MEININGER Hotels and Foncière des Régions, through its subsidiary Foncière des Murs, signed an agreement for a MEININGER Hotel in Lyon, located on Rue Zimmermann, near the city centre. The 169-room and about 580-bed hotel is expected to open mid 2019. This is the fourth joint hotel deal of MEININGER and Foncière des Régions. Three further joint projects in Munich, Paris and Milan are currently under development.

The hotel is situated in the vicinity of the city centre in the 7th Arrondissement of Lyon near Gare de Lyon Perrache, the second largest railway station of the city, and close to the Rhone. The property is well connected to the public transport system. The next tram and metro station it's just a few minutes' walk away.

The new building, with a gross floor area of 5,828 sqm, will offer 169 modern and well equipped rooms with 580 beds in total on seven floors. The room types will range from standard double rooms, private rooms with multiple beds to a bed in a dorm room. All public spaces including the reception, lobby, lounge, breakfast room and bar as well as guest kitchen and games zone, which are all typical features of a MEININGER hotel, will be located on the ground floor. The hotel will offer 78 underground parking spaces. The developer of the hotel is G. FONTANEL PROMOTION. The design of the building is by the architectural firm AGREGA.

"Lumière"

The design of each MEININGER hotel is based on a specific theme. In this way a place of warm personality emerges where guests feel comfortable and willing to share their experiences. In Lyon the theme "Lumière" was inspired by the Lumière brothers, who lived in Lyon and who were pioneer contributors to the birth of film. A further inspiration was the Fête des Lumières which takes place once a year in Lyon since 1852. The theme will be realised by the architects Maidenberg Architecture who are responsible for the planning and implementation of the interior design.

Hannes Spanring, CEO of MEININGER Hotels, says: "We are very happy about this great new addition to our portfolio and about realizing it together with Foncière des Régions. Lyon is a popular travel destination, it has been voted as "Europe's Leading City Break Destination" at the World Travel Awards ceremony in 2016. Furthermore Lyon is France's second most popular business hub.

This means the city attracts city tourist and business traveller alike."

Dominique Ozanne, CEO Hotels, Foncière des Régions, says: "We are proud to have created this unprecedented partnership with one of the industry's most innovative brands and to have enabled MEININGER to speed up its pan-European development thanks to Foncière des Régions' renown and expertise."
