The hotel group MEININGER Hotels continues its expansion. With the opening of the MEININGER Budapest Great Market Hall, the company has opened up the Hungarian market. The newly built property not far from the Danube promenade is located next to the famous Great Market Hall and has 184 rooms and 751 beds. It is the first of two new market entries planned for 2019. This summer, the hotel group will open its first hotel in France.

The metropolis on the Danube, which is famous for its spa culture, has gained a new lodging property. About 1 km south of the city center on the Pest side lies the prominent, wavy shaped new building of the MEININGER Budapest Great Market Hall made of concrete and glass. With the opening of the seven-storey accommodation building, which covers a total floor area of 6,600 sqm, MEININGER Hotels celebrates their premiere in Hungary.

The interior design is inspired by Hungarian craftsmanship and the neighboring Great Market Hall (Nagy Vásárcsarnok) which counts to one of the most beautiful market halls in Europe with its neo-Gothic architectural style. „Successful hotels create places where anyone can be who they want to be. The interior design helps to integrate the MEININGER Budapest Great Market Hall into its surroundings and invites guests to become a part of the neighborhood,” states Kai Ratschko from the architectural office Ratschko. Together with the inhouse design team of MEININGER Hotels he developed and implemented the locally rooted interior design concept. The public areas such as reception, lobby, breakfast room, lounge and bar are located on the ground floor. The building also offers an underground car park as well as a guest kitchen and a game zone which are both typical for MEININGER Hotels. The rooms on the upper floors offer a balcony with scenic views of the Danube and the Old Town.

"2018 was a record year for the tourism in Hungary. In total, about 31 million overnight stays were recorded. The number of foreign overnight guests rose by 650,000 compared to 2017. Especially the capital city benefits from this increasing demand, which attracts visitors from all over the world with its unique flair and UNESCO sights. We are pleased to welcome guests in this beautiful city from now on at our brand new property," explains Hannes Spanring, CEO of MEININGER Hotels.

The new accommodation next to the Great Market Hall welcomes individual, group and business travellers. "Our house is characterized by a particularly flexible room structure. It allows us to respond to a diverse guest mix as well as the varying needs of our guests. They can choose between single and double rooms as well as private dorm rooms and also dormitories. The public areas provide plenty of room for social interaction and reflect the character of the local environment," clarifies Doros Theodorou, CCO of MEININGER Hotels.

The MEININGER Budapest Great Market Hall is located in the Ferencváros district, between the Great Market Hall and the Liberty Bridge. In the immediate vicinity of the building runs the shopping street and promenade Váci utca. It leads from the Great Market Hall to the lively Vörösmarty Square in the middle of the old town of Pest. The two metro stations, each about 400 meters from the property, allow easy access to the sights of the entire city. From the airport, the MEININGER Budapest Great Market Hall is about 40 minutes, the main train station about 10 minutes away by public transport.
